One of the subjects that fascinates PDV is undoubtedly the portrait.

Born and educated in Ghent, he had the opportunity to learn about the painting of the Flemish Primitives very closely, which would determine his preferred pictorial technique (gesso, underlying drawing, grisaille and oil glazes).

When it comes to tracing the personality of the portrayed person, the objects introduced and the environment will play a very important role due to their symbolic load.
